IPEKA INTERNATIONAL Christian School is part of a family of Indonesian schools based in the Jakarta area but with schools on other islands as well. The schools were started 31 years ago by a large Christian denomination here in Indonesia to be a ministry to their churches and to the children of Indonesia. In 1999, the IPEKA Foundation began a Bilingual Christian School which has evolved into our current International School in our new facility in West Jakarta. (If you are wondering what IPEKA means, it is an Indonesian acronym I-PE-KA from the 3 Indonesian words for faith, hope and love and is pronounced E-PAY-KUH). We have many teachers from different countries who work together with our Indonesian teachers to provide a quality Christian education. In our K-6 program, our students use a modified version of the A Beka Christian curriculum from the United States along with the required Indonesian subjects to build a strong Biblical foundation. In Years 7-12 we prepare our students to study anywhere in the world so we use the curriculum from New South Wales, Australia (we are accredited by the NSW Board of Studies in Sydney). This leads to an Australian Higher School Certificate which is recognized worldwide. In addition, in 2011 we will begin offering Advanced Placement courses approved by the College Board from the U.S. so some of our students can get a jump on university courses.
IPEKA INTERNATIONAL Christian School is looking for qualified Christian teachers who agree with our vision and mission statement and have a passion for the power of Christian education to transform lives, families and even societies. We prefer teachers have experience teaching in a formal classroom for the year-level they would like to teach in Indonesia and accreditation from their home country. Post graduate education is a plus. All teachers must have at least an undergraduate degree from an accredited university with appropriate experience.
IPEKA provides its foreign teachers a very competitive salary in US dollars, a free private apartment (with transportation to and from school), medical insurance, a free flight to Indonesia at the beginning of a two-year contract with a free return after two years (many teachers stay with us for additional 2-year contracts and in those cases we give a round-trip ticket after signing again) and a shipping allowance for personal items. And of course, all visa / work permit expenses and taxes are paid for by the school. With Indonesia's lower cost of living, our teachers find it quite possible to save, pay down debt or send money to others if they wish.
